Invidia Initiative

Giving Something Back…

Since the start of the Invidia Voices Choir we have always tried to give something back to the local community. Over the year money that we make from donations and collections are put aside for our Invidia Initiative, which takes place every Christmas.

Then during the festive period we ask Invidia Choir members to nominate families or individuals who are in need at this time of year. We then go out and purchase food, presents and everything else to make for an excellent Christmas.

During one day in the run up to Christmas Day, Invidia Choir members who can spare the time all come together over a cup of tea and a mince pie, to have a singing session where we all put together Christmas hampers.

After organising ourselves into a production line we fill the hampers, containing everything from toys for children through to a bottle of Christmas cheer. Finally the finishing touches are applied, with cellophane and a bow giving the whole presentation a professional finish.

Chosen members then deliver the hampers to the selected recipients, but to keep anonymity we never ask the nominating member to do this job. We simply knock on the door and hand over the hamper – leaving someone with a smile.

It’s our way of showing that somebody cares.
