The Invidia Voices Story
Invidia Voices was born in 2012, when Matt Emerson decided to set up a rock & soul choir for his students. He felt that many of the existing choirs lacked an emphasis on fun and wanted to bring back the social, enjoyable side to performing as part of a vocal group.
The first sessions started off as the Carolling & Christmas Choir, which turned into a roaring success. As a result of the enthusiastic response from all involved, Matt and Alex Emmerson decided to turn the choir into a full time group. By March of 2012, well over a hundred new members had signed up to join the newly named Invidia Voices Rock & Soul Choir.
From a single group that originally took place at Epic Studios on Magdalen St, Norwich the choir quickly grew into two sessions taking place at St Luke’s Church, before expanding out to Acle. More venues are now being added all the time, bringing Invidia Voices to the whole of Norfolk, East Anglia and beyond.
Lauren Dove – a well-known and accomplished UK singer, Lauren has residencies in one of the top London Blues venues and studied Jazz vocals at Goldsmith’s University in London. She has an infectious love of all things musical and as a tutor herself she understands the learning process.
Charlotte Joyce – national Blues Award nominee Charlotte Joyce is a popular face on the East Anglian music scene. A skilled and accomplished vocalist and piano player, fronting her own ensemble. She has an energy and enthusiasm that she brings to the Invidia Choir, inspiring members to experience the fun of singing.
Samantha Coe – Sam’s background in pop music, having spent 3 years as part of a girl band that supported Take That on their reunion tour. Sam has also worked alongside some of the world’s best songwriters and producers, and still gigs regularly with her own band, bringing a ton of knowledge and skill to Invidia Voices.
Christine Chamberlain – a highly skilled and experienced vocal coach and music teacher, Chris has regularly led choirs and vocal groups around the country. Her love of music and teaching is immediately evident and very infectious!
Viktoria Juganzon – a graduate of the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, Viktoria comes to us with years of performance and teaching experience, and a real passion for music, performance, and getting the best out her students, no matter their ability!
Cat Stafford – Operational Director – originally one of our Invidia Choir members, Cat was always keen to help out and get involved with the organising meetings and events. Eventually she became so dedicated and helpful that we had no choice to offer her a full time position as one of our company directors.
