What it means to be a Buddy

Buddy

Hi!

So you are thinking of being an Invidia Buddy? That’s great!

If you are wondering what that role entails exactly and you would like a little more clarification before committing, then keep reading!

  1. Will it take lots of my time?
Not really. It does involve a certain amount of time commitment, like arriving at rehearsals about 15 minutes early and leaving 15 minutes later, but that’s pretty much it. Oh, and we do a “Buddy Training” morning about once a year in Norwich, which is actually quite fun and always includes tea and cake…..

  1. Will I have to do lots of printing and admin?
Nope. The printing is the tutor’s responsibility and turns up at rehearsal in the tutor rehearsal bag. You just need to get the paperwork out and arrange them on the registration table, make sure everyone signs in, and that all “Free Tasters” fill out an “ABC Form”.  And as far as getting this info back to the office, that’s also the tutor’s job.

  1. So what exactly would I be doing?
Essentially, you’ll be doing the following:
    1. Arrive at rehearsal about 15 minutes earlier than everybody else.
    2. Get the “rehearsal bag” from the tutor, and arrange the paperwork on a table.
    3. As members start to come in, make sure they sign in on the attendance sheet.
    4. As Free Tasters arrive, you meet and greet them and answer any questions they may have (if you don’t know the answer to a question, you can always refer them back to the tutor or the office). This is your main role by the way, welcoming free tasters with a smile, looking after them and putting them at ease.
    5. During the rehearsal, enjoy your Invidia time and sing your heart out!
    6. At the end of the rehearsal, make sure the free tasters fill out an “ABC Form” before they leave, double checking that they have filled out all required fields. Any free tasters that are signing up will also need to fill out a registration form.
    6.  Pass all the paperwork back to the tutor.

That’s pretty much it!

You even get a special “Instruction Manual” to remind you of all this, should you worry about forgetting anything.

  1. OK. I’m sold, what do I need to do to become a Buddy?
All you need to do is talk to your Tutor and let them know that you would like to be an Invidia Buddy and we will take it from there. We will send you down your official buddy badge and your tutor will ceremoniously announce the news to your choir group the following week, so everyone knows you are very important!

Or, if it’s not for you, that’s OK too. We won’t be offended!

So, what do you think? Let us know!
